Activity 1 (20 mins)
Mentors: Budget Simulation – Students will participate in a real-life budget simulation based on a career and lifestyle listed, making decisions about housing, transportation, food, social outings, etc.
- Allow the cohort to choose a realistic career and use the livable budget for the month. With whatever career they choose they will then build a budget with that. At the end, they will see if they land in the negative or positive.
- You can find the Budget Simulation sheet HERE
Activity 2 (30 mins)
Teacher: Dream Life Budget Plan – Students will research a career they’re interested in and create a financial plan that includes monthly expenses and savings goals based on a realistic salary.
- Based on what career they chose during our pathway selection, they should then look into the media salary for it. They will then build a lifestyle budget based on what they discover.
Closing Huddle – 5 Mins
- End by collectively performing your exit ritual!
- Remind students of the next session!
