Activity 1: Your Support System - 25 mins
If finances and/or life obstacles were not a factor, what would you do for your senior year? Create a list of goals you would like to accomplish this year. Now, using the S.M.A.R.T. Goals sheet, let’s map out these goals.
Discussion Questions:
- Are there any goals that were “unachievable”? If so, why?
- Which goal is your main priority?
- How will you benefit from reaching these goals?
- What kind of support do I need to achieve these goals?
Activity 2: Open Discussion - 25 mins
We’ve identified our goals and what we need to do to achieve them. Now, let’s discuss the importance of PERSEVERANCE.
Perseverance is persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
- Are there any obstacles that could hinder you from reaching these goals? If so, what are they?
- How can we overcome these obstacles?
- How can Next Gen support you in achieving these goals?
Students create a list of quotes, action items, people who encourage you, and/or anything that will assist you in persevering to the finish lines of your goals
Closing Huddle - 5 mins
Closing Huddle:
- End by collectively performing your exit ritual!
- Remind students of the next session!
