Equip students with tools, confidence, and support to navigate the transition from high school into their chosen next step whether it’s college, career, military, or another path.
REQUIRED PREP:
Teacher: – Transform your room – Next Gen sessions should be different from typical classes — change the atmosphere of your classroom and get ready for your first session!
Opening Huddle (5 mins):
Goal: Conduct the cohort ritual and mood check.
Feel free to play music to generate energy and set the vibe!

- Mood Check: Gather the students into a circle (standing or sitting – keep comfort in mind)!
Activity 1 (40 mins)
Teacher and Mentor Share the Vision: What’s Coming Next: Path-Specific Prep
TEACHERS and MENTORS: Break students into groups based on their post-graduation plans:
- College-bound: Cover housing deadlines, orientation, academic planning, FAFSA follow-up, etc.
- Career-bound: Cover resume refinement, interview prep, transportation, scheduling, workplace norms.
- Military or other paths: Review timelines, next appointments, wellness plans, etc.
- Still figuring it out?: Focus on self-reflection, job search steps, mentorship, and accountability.
Provide checklists and let students circle top 3 tasks they need to prioritize. Offer 1:1 help where possible.
Closing Huddle
- End by collectively performing your exit ritual!
- Remind students of the next session!
